Paul Dean, CEO
Paul Dean is a senior-level executive with extensive history in the lumber & building materials industry. He has served as CEO, President, and Executive Vice President of two national cooperatives and a senior Vice President of sales & marketing during his time in lumber distribution, software and systems, and association management. His current role in the evolution of digital commerce in the lumber supply chain includes working with clients to redefine the lumber commerce process with data and integration services. He is known for thought leadership by introducing non-traditional ideas into existing, traditional models.
He was responsible for driving the creation of an industry certification program (CBMS Certified Building Materials Specialist), now in its 22nd year. He went on to form two industry leadership development groups “Northeastern Young Lumber Execs (NYLE) ” and “NextGen” programs with a primary focus on professional development and succession planning for younger business leaders in the industry.

A veteran of the financial services world, Joe was instrumental in the standardization of data to implement secure transactions and data flow. A founder of Materials Exchange Joe is an expert in databases and data standards.
Mr. Dean is a two-time recipient of the prestigious Lumber Person of the Year lifetime achievement award, as bestowed upon him by the Northeastern Retail Lumber Association’s members, his customers, and he has served on numerous industry boards including the National Lumber & Building Materials Association’s Manufacturers Council.
